This is my FAVORITE of all the Deco buildings I came across in Sacramento. Capitol Plaza (1025 9th St.) is just a few blocks north of the Capitol and while the current awning makes it look a bit shabby, it’s spectacular. The blue-green colored tiles of the exterior top are gorgeous. The stores on the ground floor appear to have all their original wood doors etc. and the original entrance is there, though hidden by the awning. Also of note: It appears to me this building was probably an older one that was redone on the ‘30s with this Deco facade to look “younger.” This type of “face lift” was common.
